After the Golden Bird fiasco I was still looking for something to do. Because I have always enjoyed mountain hiking, I thought perhaps landscape painting (seen elsewhere on this site) might be a sensible idea (travel expenses are deductable!), even if it didn't turn out to be that lucrative. That I did; however, I kept my foot in the commercial side for extra money, and this particular client that I met just a few years later paid very well for the artwork. For the first design they provided a rough sketch, and with months of lead time I replied with the detailed study seen above. The project was greenlighted and I still had about 6 weeks to finish the oil painting...
